Walk Your Way to Better Health

Walk Your Way to Better Health

Skiing, snowboarding and ice-skating are without a doubt ways to get a good workout in the winter. But what about those of us looking to shield ourselves from the blistering cold? If you still want to get in your weekly dose of exercise while also staying warm indoors, you should think about joining the Adventist HealthCare Walking Club!

You may not have realized how many health benefits a simple activity like walking can have. Studies have shown that after age 65, the speed at which you walk may be linked to how long you have to live, reports the Harvard Health Letter.

Research shows that the benefits of walking and physical activity for only 30 minutes a day include:

  • Reduced risk of coronary heart disease
  • Reduced risk of stroke
  • Lower blood pressure
  • Lower cholesterol
  • Improved blood lipid profile

Doesn’t that make you want to lace up those sneakers and step up your exercise routine today? Register for free by visiting the Adventist HealthCare Walking Club on Tuesdays from 8-9:30 a.m. in the food court at Westfield Montgomery Mall.

We recently marked our One Year Anniversary and celebrated with special activities including chair stretching exercises and the Wii Fit balance test.

What We Offer

All of our members receive access to free health information and blood pressure screenings each week. We also host a monthly walking club breakfast and monthly “health chats” with experts from our participating entities:
