AARP Driver Safety Program The AARP Driver Safety Program is the nation’s first and largest refresher course for drivers age 50 and older. The program is designed to help tune up driving skills, explain safe driving strategies, and update knowledge of the rules of the road.  Learn about normal age-related physical changes, and how to adjust driving to allow for these changes.  Reduce traffic violations, the likelihood of crashes, and chances of injuries. The program will be held on Saturday, Nov. 2 at Washington Adventist Hospital.

Childbirth Express Class In this four-hour abbreviated childbirth class, learn about labor, birth, and pain management in a lecture format. Next class on Sunday, Nov. 3 at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital.

American Safety & Health Institute Basic First Aid Learn how to treat first aid emergencies such as bleeding, shock, fractures, sprains, nosebleeds, seizures and diabetic and heat-and cold-related emergencies. The next class is on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital.

Look Good…Feel Better A program for women undergoing cancer treatments. Specially trained cosmetologists and beauticians help you look you best. Cosponsored with the American Cancer Society and the National Cosmetology Association, the next program is on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at the Aquilino Cancer Center.

BEST Program: Breastfeeding, Support & Togetherness Breastfeeding moms and their babies may join this informal group with a lactation consultant for breastfeeding information, support for the continuation of breastfeeding, and for assistance with challenging situations. The next meeting is Wednesday, Nov. 13 from 10:30am to 12:00 pm.

Diabetes Education Event Learn how to reduce your risk for diabetes, how to manage the disease and more on World Diabetes Day: Thursday, November 14, 2013, during a special diabetes education event from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Washington Adventist Hospital. This FREE event will include health screenings, cooking and exercise demonstrations, educational talks by Washington Adventist Hospital diabetes experts, along with prizes and giveaways.

Pre Diabetes Class Learn about food and nutrition, exercise, stress, and other important information for preventing diabetes. This program is a two-part class where you’ll develop a greater understanding of how lifestyle factors affect disease progression and the changes you can make to prevent diabetes. Class are offered Thursday mornings.

Adventist HealthCare Walking Club Adventist HealthCare and Westfield Montgomery Mall have teamed up to promote healthy and active lifestyles in our community via our Adventist HealthCare Walking Club. Join us for a walk on Tuesdays in the Westfield Montgomery Mall food court from 8:00 am to 9:30 am.

Postpartum-Depression Support Group Postpartum-Depression support group where new mothers gather to share stories and experiences in a supportive, non-judgmental and safe environment. The group meets at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital on Thursdays from 1:00 to 2:00 pm.

Discovering Motherhood – Adjusting to Your New Role If you are feeling overwhelmed by your new role, having difficulty making it through your day, or simply would like to connect with other new moms and their babies, please join us for a FREE ongoing weekly support group for moms at Great Beginnings Children’s Store in Gaithersburg on Mondays, 10:30 am to 12:30 pm.
