When was the last time you frolicked in a green meadow or planned a picnic for family or friends? Yes, adults can do these things too! This July marks the 30th anniversary of Park and Recreation Month, the perfect time to bring out your inner child and appreciate the great outdoors! This month, parks and recreation facilities around the country are hosting events, such as outdoor zumba, to promote health and wellness efforts in their community. To encourage the discovery of parks and recreation’s super powers, The National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) is hosting a month-long selfie photo contest. How will you participate?
The National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) is the leading non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of public parks, recreation and conservation. NRPA strives to improve conservation, well-being, and social equity in surrounding communities. This month is a great opportunity to reap the benefits of your local parks. Take advantage of the sights, events, and resources available to you in your community.
Local events occurring throughout the month of July will be posted on NRPA’s website. Can’t find an event you like? Create an event and post it. Get active, appreciate the parks, enjoy the outdoors, and have fun this month!
