Flu season is just around the corner, and experts agree the best defense for you and your family is an annual flu vaccination. Each year, seasonal flu results in 200,000 hospitalizations and 36,000 deaths. Those at greatest risk for the flu are:
- Young children
- The elderly
- Individuals with a compromised immune system
“The flu is a serious health condition that we can all help to control by getting a flu shot,” says Gaurov Dayal, M.D., a pediatrician and chief medical officer for Adventist HealthCare. “Now is the time to start thinking about how you and your family can prevent the flu and stay healthy.
As part of its mission to improve health, Adventist HealthCare, through its two local hospitals, Shady Grove Adventist Hospital and Washington Adventist Hospital, is once again working to help prevent the spread of flu by offering seasonal flu vaccination clinics throughout the community.
