A new year brings new life. 2013 kicked off to an exciting start at Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Centerand Washington Adventist Hospitals with a warm welcome to the New Year’s babies!
Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center’s Birth Center welcomed Hana of Germantown, Md., a girl weighing 6 lbs. 6 oz. at 2:43 a.m. on January 1. Later that morning, Washington Adventist Hospital welcomed its first baby of 2013 at 7:52 a.m., a girl weighing 6 lbs. 13 oz.
To help celebrate this special occasion, the nurses in Labor and Delivery at each hospital gave the newborns’ families a basket of baby essentials including handmade towels, blankets, hats and booties.
“We are excited to be a part of this first birth of 2013 and are looking forward to many more at our hospital this year,” said Kathleen Garrison, assistant nurse manager of Labor and Delivery at Washington Adventist Hospital.
“Our expert physicians and staff recognize each birth is a special experience for a family, on this momentous date and every day of the year,” added Terry Francis, Director of Perinatal Services at Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center.
