Thank you for granting pediatric wishes!

With the help of our generous community, children and families on the pediatric units of our hospital and Germantown Emergency Center had something extra to smile about this past Christmas. From toys to diapers, we received more than 175 items to help support our pediatric patients and brighten their day.

After weeks of our pile growing larger and larger, nurses and hospital staff gathered together the week of Christmas to wrap the items. And on Christmas morning, each child woke to a toy in their room. Their happiness brought joy to everyone around them – families, nurses, physicians and staff.

In addition, all of the packets and boxes of diapers, clothes and other supplies have not gone unnoticed. These items are helping to ease the stress on families during their stay by taking one less worry off of their mind.

“You really helped these children and their families during a time that is stressful and difficult for them and we cannot thank you enough,” says Dr. Neha Gajjar, pediatric medical director.

Although November and December are the known as the gift-giving season, we provide items to our pediatric patients and families all year long.

Mridula Naik, clinical nurse manager of the pediatric emergency department, says that often giving a child a toy while they are in the emergency department eases their fear and helps them calm down.

If you did not get a chance to donate, you still can. We will be accepting items throughout the year. Visit to choose the item you would like to donate and it will be shipped straight to Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center.

Thank you, again, for helping us care for the smallest members of our community.
