On Monday of this week we celebrated National Doctor’s Day—an opportunity to recognize the extraordinary service that physicians and surgeons provide to each of us, to our hospitals and organization, and to our community.

Think for a moment about all of the people dressed in a white lab coat with a nametag that says “Doctor.” There is a world-class listener. A mind filled with the right questions and all the skills necessary to get the right answers. There is a person you can trust with the most important secrets about your health. There is a person who can take quick action and make things happen. There’s a manager, a cheerleader, and a comforter. There’s someone who knows the importance of teamwork. There is someone who knows that power of hope. There’s an empathetic individual who has dedicated herself or himself to the great art and science of healing. And that’s just the beginning.

It is an honor to work alongside so many wonderfully skilled, compassionate physicians, and to share in their commitment to deliver excellent medical care to all those we serve. Thank you for all that you do, for the energy and focus you bring to our shared task, and for sharing your talents, training, experience, and skills with us.

At Adventist HealthCare we truly believe that optimal health is achieved through a balanced approach to all aspects of life, and to attentiveness to our physical, mental, and spiritual needs. Critical to our mission of improving the health of our communities and all of those who we serve are the relationships we have with our team of doctors. They bless us every day. And we are grateful.
