Adventist HealthCare brings quality orthopedic physical therapy services to RIO Sport & Health in Gaithersburg

Local athletes and others suffering from injuries and pain have a new, convenient option for treatment. In May, Adventist HealthCare Physical Health & Rehabilitation opened a new outpatient clinic in the Washingtonian RIO Sport&Health in Gaithersburg. The state- of-the-art clinic provides hands-on physical therapy and rehabilitation by certified manual therapists and sports medicine physicians who specialize in the treatment of athletic and orthopedic injuries.

Expert Care, Specialized Services

The clinic also focuses on manual therapy techniques and dry needling to assist with pain management. Dry needling involves a therapist pushing a very thin needle through the skin to stimulate trigger points, muscles or connecting tissue. The procedure releases tight muscle bands and decreases certain types of orthopedic pain.

“Our new location at Washingtonian RIO brings our expertise to a more convenient setting for patients,” says Elizabeth Kotroba, director of outpatient therapy at Physical Health & Rehabilitation. “As a leader in rehabilitative care, we use the latest technology and research to treat a range of conditions, helping patients return to their activities as quickly and safely as possible.”

Treating a Range of Conditions

The new Adventist HealthCare Physical Health & Rehabilitation Outpatient Clinic offers therapy for the following conditions:

Therapists design rehabilitation programs specific to each patient’s or athlete’s recovery needs. The clinic features an open gym with private treatment rooms and physician offices, as well as an anti-gravity treadmill, which uses groundbreaking technology to reduce recovery time from a sports-related injury or an orthopedic condition.

Accessibility and More

The location within the Washingtonian RIO provides convenient options including on-site child care through Sport&Health (for a small fee), convenient parking and a one-month free club membership to the RIO Sport&Health facility after completion of therapy.

“Our goal is to deliver quality therapy through leading experts in a state-of-the- art environment,” says Robert Grange, associate vice president of Physical Health & Rehabilitation. “Our new clinic at the RIO Sport&Health will achieve that goal.”
